The Giro has come and gone for another year and below is a pictorial wrap up of our Italian adventure following the 101st version of the great race.
This was an amazing eight days of riding and experiencing the food, vino and Italian culture of the regions we traversed.
Heading up and out of Cortina d’Ampezzo on the way to the spectacular Passo di Falzarego, with its 1000m of elevation over a 16km ascent, made for a great warming up of the legs on our first day.
All eyes left. The crew enamoured with the Dolomiti scenery as we head up to Passo Di Giau.
Taking time to fill the bidons with some fresh mountain spring water.
A little alpine refreshment as we await the arrival of the tete de la course.
Poised roadside to watch the day’s break as it rolls through Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Passo Dello Stelvio in the snow with 3k to go. With no cars and just the marmots, it was another beautiful morning on the bike.
Our non riding guests enjoying the spectacular Dolomiti scenery from a different perspective on one of their daily hikes.
The Maglia Rosa on the tiny roads of the lower slopes of Colle delle Finestre.
Easing in to the beautiful weather of an Italian summer in picturesque Novello.
A roadside lunch of panini, pork ribs and home made wine with the Alpini, was a hit as we waited for the race to roll past.
A magnificent Piemontese dinner in the Langhe is not complete without a digestivo.
The VIP start experience was something else in the grand piazza of Palazzo Venaria Reale, outside Torino.
Up close with the riders in the VIP enclosure.
A very happy crew after the ascent of Passo Del Mortirolo.
